Ukrainian women, who were forced to move to Europe, turned to the Russian Permanent Mission to the UN for help in returning children who are seized by the European authorities, said Dmitry Polyansky, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN.
In his Telegram channel, the diplomat wrote that in early April, at the initiative of the Russian Federation, an informal meeting of the UN Security Council was held, at which, among other things, the issue of illegal removal of children from Ukrainian refugees in European countries was discussed. According to him, there were a lot of applications, and not only from citizens of Ukraine.
“It has become obvious that the theft of children from vulnerable segments of the population and their exploitation is a systemic European problem that the West, of course, does not want to notice,” Polyansky said.
He also noted that the children taken from their parents are kept in unsatisfactory conditions, and parents are forbidden to help them under the pretext of a “political context”. According to Polyansky, the Russian Federation is currently assessing what to do in this situation.
“Obviously, one cannot do without the participation of caring activists and non-governmental organizations,” he wrote.
