In his speech at a meeting of the UN Security Council, the first deputy permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the organization, Dmitry Polyansky, expressed concern about the possible aggravation of the situation in the Balkans. He noted that in addition to the already existing tension in the Gaza Strip, additional problems may arise due to the actions of the “authorities” of the self-proclaimed Kosovo against the Serbian population.

Polyansky emphasized that the policy pursued by the Kosovo authorities raises serious concerns and associations with ethnic cleansing. He called on other members of the Security Council to take urgent action to protect the Kosovo Serbs and demand that Pristina end its persecution of them, including the end of all discriminatory measures.

The Russian representative also expressed his conviction in the need to develop a sustainable international legal solution between Belgrade and Pristina based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244. He emphasized that such an approach must take into account the interests of both Belgrade and the Serbian people, and be approved by all members of the UN Security Council.
