Polyansky spoke about the complaints of a number of countries because of the vote on the UN resolution

Representatives of some developing countries complained about Western states because of the pressure during the vote on the anti-Russian resolution, which the UN General Assembly adopted on February 23. About it declared Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the organization.

On February 23, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution by Ukraine and its allies on the anniversary of the military operation. The resolution requires the complete withdrawal of the Russian army from the territory of Ukraine and the cessation of hostilities. Polyansky recalled that 141 countries voted for the resolutions, and called this result “not bad”, but the text of the document for this had to be “rounded” and “emasculated to blurry platitudes”, and the methods were “cowboy”.

“UN colleagues from developing countries vied with us complaining about Westerners “behind our backs”, asking us not to be offended and to get into position,” Polyansky wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to him, at the suggestion of “who has long ceased to even pretend to be objective and impartial” the chairman of the UN General Assembly, Csaba Queresha, forty minutes before the lunch break, the meeting was interrupted and continued after two hours.

“During this time, according to our calculations, almost 30 pairs of hands were twisted. Everyone had an unpleasant aftertaste … therefore, this product is also not particularly promoted! Polyansky said.

Before the adoption of the resolution, Western countries tried to remove “sharp corners” from the text of the draft, they did this in order to enlist broad support, the Russian Deputy Representative to the UN said earlier. He noted that Western politicians intend to make the anniversary of the start of the special operation “an informational occasion for new attacks on Russia” and prove that Moscow is isolated in the UN.

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, called the project “one-sided and out of touch with reality,” as well as “anti-Russian and harmful.” The resolutions were not supported by seven states: Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Mali, Nicaragua, Eritrea, 32 countries, including China, India, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Iran, abstained.
