The Russian mission to the UN rejected accusations of attempts to eliminate Zelensky
The Russian Federation does not plan to eliminate the President of Ukraine. First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky assured his colleagues of this at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
Earlier, a number of Western politicians criticized the Russian military for striking targets in Odessa on March 6, allegedly in close proximity to the motorcade of Zelensky and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Russian diplomat drew the attention of those gathered to the fact that despite the previously distributed warning about the missile danger in Odessa, the alarm was not declared and the warning siren was not turned on. Polyansky also asked the members of the UN Security Council to ask themselves a question: “Do you really think that if we wanted to hit Zelensky’s motorcade, we would not be able to do this?… You know very well that this strike destroyed the the production of naval drones, or rather their assembly from components supplied from the UK,” said the first deputy permanent representative. He also emphasized that this goal is more important for Russia than the “rushing” president of Ukraine. The diplomat also added that he would disappoint those who expect to get rid of the “leader of the Kyiv regime” through alleged Russian aggression. “I can disappoint you, this is not our goal,” Polyansky concluded.
