Polyansky called the final decision of Russia on the grain deal

Russia has made the final decision on the grain deal. This was stated by Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky.

According to Polyansky, who leads RIA Novosti, Russia has made a final decision on the prospects for a grain deal. Answering the question whether there will be more negotiations on the Black Sea initiative, he said that he did not know about it.

July 17 Russian Foreign Ministry declaredthat Russia is withdrawing from the grain deal, without its participation, the agreement is terminated on July 18. We are talking, among other things, about the withdrawal of guarantees for the safety of navigation, the curtailment of the maritime humanitarian corridor and the restoration of the regime of a temporarily dangerous area in the northwestern Black Sea.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky informedthat Kyiv plans to continue using the Black Sea corridor for the export of grain.

On plans to negotiate a grain deal earlier declared Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He specified that he plans to discuss the grain deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone, without waiting for the Russian leader’s visit to Turkey in August.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted earlier that the Black Sea agreements had actually ceased to be valid today. He stressed that, since the Russian part of the deal is not being implemented, its effect is terminated. Moscow is ready to return to the implementation of the agreements as soon as its conditions are met. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Russia had notified the UN, Turkey and Ukraine of its objection to the extension of the deal.

The deal was concluded on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey and the UN, on the one hand, and representatives of Russia and Ukraine, on the other. The Ukrainian part of the deal implies the unhindered export of grain from the ports of Odessa, Yuzhny and Chernomorsk, the Russian part – easing restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers. Since then, the agreement has been repeatedly extended, and the last agreement was reached in May.
