Polyansky announced a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Gaza Strip

An extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Gaza Strip is scheduled for 22:00 Moscow time on October 8, confirmed in his Telegram channel, the first deputy chairman of Russia at the organization, Dmitry Polyansky.

“I confirm the information: the extraordinary Security Council is scheduled for 15:00 New York time (22:00 Moscow time – Vedomosti) on Sunday,” he wrote.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously called Israel and Palestine cease fire and proceed to negotiations. Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Bogdanov said that the aggravation of the situation on October 7 is a “relapse” of the conflict that has been going on between Israel and Palestine for 75 years.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is at war. He promised that the enemy would “pay the price.” Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir declared a state of emergency throughout the country. The Israeli police have begun recruiting volunteers into their ranks.

According to the Israeli Ministry of Health and the Israeli ambulance service, 40 Israelis were killed and more than 700 were injured as a result of rocket attacks. Palestine has said 160 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the conflict began. About 1,500 Palestinians were injured.
