Politico: White House fears default due to lack of dialogue between Biden and McCarthy

“There are some differences in the level of anxiety within the administration, as senior economic-focused officials have privately expressed greater concern about the severity of the possibility of a default,” the publication notes.
There is no communication between the President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, either on official or unofficial levels, the article says. They interact at most at the level of statements in the press.
On April 19, McCarthy introduced a bill to raise the US national debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion. However, the administration believes that the bill may not win a majority of votes in parliament.
