According to the Politico newspaper, a dispute has arisen between the US State Department and the Pentagon over the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine.
According to the publication, there is disagreement in the highest circles of the US administration regarding the pace and volume of arms supplies to Ukraine. Thus, “a senior administration official indicated that the State Department and the Pentagon are moving at different speeds based on differing points of view.”
It is clarified that the US State Department is actively analyzing the possibilities of supplying new types of weapons to Kyiv. The Pentagon’s approach, on the other hand, is described as more cautious and based on an assessment of the risk of expanding conflict in the region.
One person quoted by the newspaper noted: “People in the Department of Defense may say that they need to weigh the pros and cons of every weapons decision, and that responsibility falls on them.”
