Politico: The plan for the purchase of shells for Ukraine split the EU countries

According to Politico, the EU countries could not agree on a plan for the joint purchase of shells for Ukraine.
As several diplomats familiar with the situation told the publication, during the March 5 consultations, the participants failed to make progress on any of the key issues.
It is clarified that a split has arisen in the EU regarding the position whether these weapons contracts will be provided exclusively to companies from the EU or they will be open to third-party manufacturers.
“France insists that the money stay within the borders of the EU. And Greece and Cyprus supported Paris, which, according to some diplomats, is due to their desire to avoid contracts with Turkish manufacturers,” writes Politico.
