Politician Roberts: Putin prevented the US plan to deprive Russia of access to the seas

Russian President Vladimir Putin managed to prevent the US plan to deprive the country of access to the Black and Mediterranean Seas. This point of view was expressed on his website by Paul Craig Roberts, a former employee of the White House during the administration of Ronald Reagan.
Until 2014, Moscow rented naval bases in Crimea. Putin, writes Roberts, saw the danger that threatened the interests of the country after the coup d’état in Kyiv.
“Putin was vigilant enough to realize that the new American puppet government in Ukraine would cancel the lease, thereby depriving Russia of access to the Black Sea and through it to the Mediterranean Sea,” the politician’s material says.
Roberts believes that Putin did the right thing by agreeing to accept Crimea and Sevastopol into Russia.
