Political scientist Vanifatov: West covers up traces of involvement in sabotage at Nord Stream

The announcement by Russia in the UN Security Council of correspondence with a number of countries about the investigation of the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream is unlikely to bring the desired effect, since Western countries are doing their best to hide their involvement in this sabotage. This was stated in an interview with RIAMO by political scientist Alexei Vanifatov.

Earlier, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyansky warned about the imminent publication by Russia and distribution among members of the UN Security Council of correspondence with the authorities of Germany, Sweden and Denmark on the investigation into the explosions at Nord Stream. According to Vanifatov, this shows Russia’s desire for an open investigation with the participation of all interested parties. But, according to the political scientist, the countries of the West will not meet halfway. “The investigation of these countries, of course, is aimed at cleaning up and destroying evidence about who really blew up the Nord Streams,” Vanifatov said.

As he said, only in the event that the countries organizing the terrorist act are sure that its real participants cannot be found and held accountable, Russia can be admitted to the investigation. But in this case, they will try to set them on the wrong track, as it has already happened in the story with the alleged involvement of the pro-Ukrainian group in the sabotage.

The attacks on Nord Stream took place in September 2022. The authorities of Germany, Denmark and Sweden have reported independent investigations, their results have not yet been announced. The leadership of the Russian Federation called the incident an act of international terrorism.
