The Prosecutor General’s Office of Poland will check the former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder for involvement in the Ukrainian conflict and a special operation as part of an investigation into events in Ukraine. About it reported RMF radio.
It is clarified that the documents say that Schroeder, working in Russian energy companies, could “use his positions <...> for subsequent pressure on the EU countries and Ukraine.”
Schroeder has been criticized for his close ties to Russia. In particular, on May 9, he attended a reception at the Russian embassy in Berlin on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. After that, a number of German media spoke negatively about him.
Schroeder was Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1998–2005.
