Poland says country has nothing to do with Nord Stream explosions

Poland is not involved in the Nord Stream explosions. About it declared Stanislav Zharin, press secretary of the Minister-Coordinator of the country’s special services.

“Poland had nothing to do with the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 explosions. Linking Poland to these events is unfounded,” Zharin wrote on his Twitter account.

At the same time, the hypothesis of Russia’s alleged involvement in the explosions, “which had the motive and ability to carry out such an operation, remains in force,” the spokesman added.

June 10 The Wall Street Journal citing sources reportedthat investigators in Germany are examining evidence that those involved in blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipelines could use Poland as an operational base for attacks. According to the newspaper, the Andromeda yacht, which is believed to have been involved in the delivery of explosives to the pipelines, entered the territorial waters of Poland before the sabotage. However, the German authorities have no evidence of the involvement of the government of the republic in the incident.

The explosion at Nord Stream occurred on September 26, 2022. Two leaks subsequently discovered were in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Sweden, and two more were in the Danish EEZ. Initially, Germany, Sweden and Denmark agreed to conduct a joint investigation, but this idea was later abandoned. In October 2022, Sweden announced the completion of the investigation, stating “increasing suspicions of gross sabotage”, but those responsible for what happened were not named.

On February 8, American journalist Seymour Hersh published his investigation into the incident on the gas pipelines, in which he called the United States and Norway involved in the undermining. The White House and the European Commission called this information unreliable. A month later, a number of Western media, citing new US intelligence, reported on the possible involvement of some “pro-Ukrainian group” in the sabotage. It was also emphasized that the United States has no data on Russia’s participation in the operation. The Kremlin doubted this information and called the messages a “coordinated stuffing.”

At the end of May, the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and a number of other media outlets published an investigation according to which the Andromeda, on board of which investigators had previously found traces of explosives, was rented by a company associated with a citizen of Ukraine. Later it became known that several people, probably involved in the explosions, chartered the Andromeda in the German port of Rostock in September.
