Russian parliamentarians will not be able to take part in the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) due to the refusal of the Polish side to issue visas, said Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.
“We have received an outrageous response from the head of the Polish delegation to the OSCE PA, Ms. Bartosz, who says that she does not see any possibility for the participation of representatives of Russia and the Republic of Belarus in the autumn meeting of the OSCE PA in Warsaw,” said the politician (quote according to RIA Novosti).
According to the senator, at the meeting of the OSCE PA Standing Committee on November 25, which will be held in Warsaw, it is planned to discuss an amendment to the regulations, which will create a mechanism and provide grounds for suspending the mandate of individual states in the assembly’s bodies.
In July Russia refused recognize the decisions of the PA session, since the OSCE session was held without the participation of the Russian Federation. The head of the Russian delegation to the PA, Pyotr Tolstoy, said that the wording of some points that will be included in the final declaration are “extremely politicized.”
Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) 16 March voted for the proposal to exclude Russia from its composition in connection with the military operation in Ukraine. From that day on, the country ceased to be a member of the Council of Europe, which it joined in 1996, but Russian officials said that the day before, Moscow was the first to decide to withdraw from the organization.
