In Poland, they continue to speak out for Germany to give the battery of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems promised to Warsaw to Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Poland, after the incident with the fall of a Ukrainian missile on its territory, did not want to host Patriot air defense systems, as Germany suggested. Warsaw offered to send these weapons to Ukraine.
Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said during the NATO exercises “Tumak 22” that the deployment of Patriot air defense systems in Ukraine would be beneficial for the security of southeastern Poland.
Blashak believes that the deployment of “Patriots” in Ukraine will make it impossible for Poland to enter the conflict.
“To shoot down a Russian missile over Ukrainian territory would mean Poland’s entry into the war, and we don’t want that. Placing a Patriot in western Ukraine enhances the security of both western Ukraine and Poland,” Blaschak said.
In addition, in his opinion, this will prevent blackouts, and as a result, an increase in the flow of refugees from Ukraine to Europe, caused by strikes on energy infrastructure, the minister believes.
Earlier it was reported that the German authorities would consider the supply of Patriot complexes to Kyiv at the suggestion of Poland. At the same time, German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht said that this is unacceptable, since these complexes are part of NATO’s integrated air defense.
