How informs portal EUobserver, the authorities of Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Estonia took the initiative to disconnect Gazprombank from the international SWIFT system.
Countries have already called on the EU to take this measure as part of the 11th round of sanctions against Russia.
“The exclusion of Gazprombank from the SWIFT system has a priority and symbolic meaning … Since this structure is used to pay for the import of Russian oil to the EU, freezing the bank’s assets should be considered as a minimum effort,” the countries’ proposal says.
