Kommersant Style attended the opening of the Grand Rostov Hyatt Regency Hotel and talks about who took part in its creation and how it fits into the realities of Rostov-on-Don.
The well-known phrase “premium quality” has literally found its embodiment in the new space of Rostov-on-Don: Rostov residents decided to show everyone what a real luxury looks like, without discounts for the complexity of the current situation and remoteness from the capital. Immediately behind the historic mansion of the Sholokhov Center on Bolshaya Sadovaya, a bulk of a modern 12-story building arose – this is how the almost 15-year history of the place, known in the city as unfinished, ended. After a series of not the most successful circumstances like a pandemic, a change of ownership, and now sanctions restrictions, the hotel not only finally opened, but also occupied its very clear niche. The customer for the construction was the MKTs-Development company, which is part of the Agrokom group of Ivan Savvidi. The interior design of the hotel was carried out by the British architectural bureau of Alexander Rakita AR Architecture, which was awarded the European Property Award 2014-2015 for the best architectural solution in the design of the hotel. “Grand Rostov Hyatt Regency” turned out to be absolutely European: colors, shapes, materials and execution will give odds to many eminent brothers of the same high class. Now it smells of fresh renovation, everything shines and shimmers, the marble is polished, and the shades of the lamps are rubbed to a shine. In addition to design as such, the abundance of unique art objects, including representatives of the local art school, attracts attention. They can be seen in all areas of the hotel: from the lobby to the club spaces, restaurants and rooms. The works were created specifically for the hotel, and the nature of the Don, local traditions and, of course, the novel by Mikhail Sholokhov “Quiet Flows the Don” served as a source of inspiration – they love him here and are very proud of him. In total, the hotel has 187 rooms, including 29 suites, and in each of them the interior is not only elegant, but also functional: each of them has a place for both rest and work.
The general manager of the hotel, Sergey Klimenko, who previously held senior positions in international luxury and premium hotels in Moscow, noted that the opening of such a hotel is an important event not only for city residents, but also for all those who love traveling around southern Russia. And he clarified that the development plans will include, among other things, the active development of the hotel’s conference spaces, the total area of which is 1220 square meters. m. They are located on two floors and have a separate banquet kitchen, which can serve several events at once. In addition, the development of the gastronomic direction is also planned – the presentation of food as a new experience and unusual impressions. “We want to develop it through immersive dinners, musical evenings and wine tastings. Rostov is truly the center of southern gastronomy, and expectations are high,” he says. On the second floor of the hotel there is the Amalfi restaurant with an unusual coffee machine built into a real vintage Piaggio Vespa car and a wood-fired pizza oven, and on the 16th floor there is an oriental sky bar Shanghai Lounge Empire, which serves signature cocktails and modern mixes. , and on the menu you can find all the hits of Asian cuisine: dim sum, sushi, spicy snacks.
After a lot of drinking, you should look into the World Class Deluxe – the club is located on the sixth floor of the hotel and has a separate pool with two lanes for swimming and one for water aerobics. The pool is combined with an outdoor terrace overlooking the Don River and the beauty of the city center. The thermal area with the Kneipp path deserves special attention – everything is done at the level of world famous spa centers.
The luxury segment of the hotel business in the region is only gaining momentum, and five-star hotels in the south of Russia can still be counted on the fingers of one hand. However, the demand is already quite high: during the first two weeks after the opening, the Grand Rostov Hyatt Regency hosted several corporate events, and the occupancy of the housing stock amounted to almost half of the rooms ready to receive guests.
