Podolyak spoke about the prospects of Russian-speakers if Ukraine returns Crimea and Donbass

Advisor to the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak, in an interview with local television, said that in the event of the return of the territories of Crimea and Donbass, the Ukrainian authorities would need to “extirpate everything Russian” at the state level.
“If you share the values of the Russian Federation <...> you have to come to the Russian Federation and live there. You cannot tell us to erect monuments to those who are popular in the Russian Federation. You can’t tell us that you want to watch Russian television. Because Russia is our enemy <...> We should not have a dialogue whether a person has the right to speak Russian or not. Yes. Please use it at home,” Podolyak said.
According to him, from the state point of view, there should be a Ukrainian cultural space on the territory of Ukraine, and not a Russian one.
Podolyak also said that “as soon as we enter (the territory of Crimea and Donbass)”, it will be necessary to conduct investigations against people whom the Ukrainian authorities suspect of assisting Russia in previous periods. The basis for verification, according to him, may be obtaining a Russian passport, which, he believes, can be equal to “collaborationism.”
“The territory of Ukraine is the cultural space of Ukraine, it is the media space of Ukraine. If someone does not want to follow the rules of Ukraine, they must either leave the territory of Ukraine or lose some of their rights and not dictate their terms to us,” Podolyak added.
