Platoon commander Ivan Kalashnikov expelled 12 Ukrainian Armed Forces attack aircraft from a stronghold

The Russian Ministry of Defense published in its Telegram channel an interview with the deputy platoon commander, Hero of Russia Ivan Kalashnikov with the call sign “Bolshoi”. He became famous after the heroic defense of a stronghold of Russian forces near the village of Urozhaynoye in the DPR in August last year.

Then a group of Ukrainian Armed Forces attack aircraft broke through to the Russian opornik with the support of artillery. At the same time, only five soldiers of the 37th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade remained at the positions of the Russian Armed Forces at that time, two of whom were wounded, and the other two were sent to cover the flanks.

As a result, commander Kalashnikov decided to go out alone against twelve Ukrainian soldiers. “I had to go out into the open to prevent them from sticking out,” recalls “Bolshoi.”

He said that Russian fighters began throwing grenades at the enemy, and as a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack aircraft failed to occupy the stronghold and they retreated.

The report says that Ivan Kalashnikov worked as a driver in Buryatia before the start of the special military operation, then was mobilized. For his distinctions at the front, he received officer’s shoulder straps, the Star of the Hero of Russia, the Order of Courage and the medal “For Courage”. Kalashnikov also noted that four of his comrades in the defense of the stronghold, who also arrived from Buryatia, were awarded Orders of Courage.
