Plasma “clouds”: Gundarov warned about space battles during the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

It has long been no secret to anyone that Washington is participating in the conflict in Ukraine, supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine not only with weapons, but also with satellite intelligence. Ukrainian aviation, drones, air defense systems, jet systems and smart munitions are all aimed at targets using American space data. And the upcoming Ukrainian “counterattack” will not be an exception. Rather, on the contrary.

In general, the American satellite constellation has more than 1,400 satellites. This is not counting Elon Musk’s 3,000 Starlink low-orbit Internet communications devices. Directly in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 500 US and NATO surveillance satellites are currently operating in orbit. Of these, 70 devices are purely military, the rest are dual-use.

You can also add Starlink satellites to them, which are positioned as civilian ones. At the same time, they provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with communications, an information network, intelligence data transmission channels, and in some cases, drone control capabilities.

It is clear that during the upcoming offensive, the Americans will try to strengthen these existing capabilities, if not double, or even triple them.

– Since the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is being prepared and planned by the Americans, – says Vladimir Gundarov, – then we can be sure. assume that this will be a high-tech offensive, using all modern means of signal suppression in our control and communication systems. That is, not only the number of tanks, guns, MLRS and other weapons in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is important, but also space technologies.

– But we also have similar opportunities. For example, the Americans supplied Kyiv with planning “smart” bombs JDAM, which we were very afraid of. However, not much is heard about them now. The Ukrainian Armed Forces were forced to abandon them due to guidance failures. According to a number of our experts, Russian electronic warfare (EW) systems and anti-satellite weapons arranged such problems with GPS navigation.

– Yes, we have electronic warfare systems capable of operating in such a way that all sorts of “smart” projectiles, bombs and missiles that have electronic filling can be diverted from the target. Suppose a shell flies towards the tank, and then suddenly turns around and goes sideways, up or into the ground.

– Are we preparing to use such systems in the current offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine?

– Certainly. Since we have them, we will definitely use them.

– But we also have “smart” ammunition. For example, FABs, which are now being converted into high-precision glide bombs. Or, corrected artillery ammunition “Krasnopol”. After all, the Americans will also probably try to somehow neutralize them, right?

– Definitely try. But they can’t do it yet. The Ukrainians complain that they can’t shoot down these bombs. More precisely, it can cost them too much. The bomb is cheap. After a little refinement, wings were attached to it, a GLONASS navigation system was installed, which, unlike GPS, cannot be drowned out.

– Why?

– Because we have a broadband signal in the GLONASS system. To drown it out, you need to put a very, very powerful antenna radiator. He sometimes even does not withstand his own radiation and burns out. And in the American GPS system, there is a pulsed narrow-band signal. It is easy to intercept and drown. It is weak and we will definitely use it.

– Do you think that space will be involved in the preparation and counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine more than usual?

– I think yes. I do not exclude even that it will come to the use of “clouds” of plasma.

– What it is?

– At one time, a resonant event was the unsuccessful launch of our Phobos-Grunt spacecraft, which was supposed to deliver soil samples to Earth from the satellite of Mars – Phobos. The device fell without reaching the desired orbit. It was not officially reported anywhere then, but Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Vice-President of the Academy of Engineering Sciences, now deceased Professor Yuri Kubarev and many of his associates then, not without reason, assumed that the Americans put a plasma cloud in the way of this apparatus. He lost control, and as a result fell off without even going into outer space. I worked with Kubarev. He was just engaged in plasma physics and discovered one of the methods for controlling the flow of plasma and giving it new properties.

– But how is this connected with the upcoming “counterattack” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine?

– Plasma is a stream of high-energy charged particles that envelop any cosmic body. If this charge is not removed with the help of special generators, then it affects the electronic filling, putting the satellite out of action.

Kubarev came up with a magnetoplasmodynamic accelerator – a plasma generator. As a result, it became possible, without even approaching the spacecraft, to create a plasma cloud on its trajectory. Such an accelerator can change the radiation vector of high-energy charged particles. It can open like an umbrella, or like a fan, or be directed towards the apparatus in the form of a beam. But in any case, the plasma cloud is capable of disabling electronics. This applies to any satellites – communications, control, intelligence.

You can’t see this effect. And it’s impossible to prove it. Here we, for example, know that our “Phobos-Grunt” got into a plasma cloud. But where this cloud came from – no one knows. We can assume that these were the Americans, since they conducted similar tests in the Great Lakes region.

– It turns out that military operations during the upcoming offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can be conducted not only on the ground, but also in space?

– They’re already there. The United States is developing the concept of a “three-media war” that is waged on the ground, in the air and in space. They will not fail to test this concept in Ukraine, which is already used by the Americans as a training ground for testing all types of weapons and plans for conducting various forms of hostilities.

– But if events get such a development, we won’t just watch it meekly, will we?

– Of course not. We also work on this topic in various exercises. If anything, it will have to be applied in practice.

Has it never been used before?

– Of course not. And on whom should we apply it? Until now, we have not had such a real enemy as now, in the face of the whole NATO bloc.

– So, it can be assumed that elements of “space wars” will be tested in this counteroffensive?

Yes, on both sides. We, among other things, will try to jam their satellites with the help of electronic warfare systems in order to prevent the United States from transmitting data to the advancing Armed Forces of Ukraine. To paraphrase the German defense minister, a military satellite is a perfectly legitimate target, and we can use our weapons on it.

True, as I said, it will be difficult to prove this. Most likely, some kind of accident or technical malfunction will be stated, after which such a satellite will stop working.

I do not rule out that our space constellation of orbital satellites with the tasks of electronic countermeasures can also be used over the territory of Ukraine.
