PLA to continue exercises near Taiwan and work out strikes against ground targets – media

The exercises of the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) near Taiwan will continue, the Chinese military plans to work out strikes against ground targets, China Central Television reports.
The exercise is organized by the PLA Eastern Combat Command Zone and takes place in the waters and airspace around Taiwan, covering a total of 6 areas.
“Joint exercises and combat training will continue,” the statement said.
The PLA began a large-scale live-fire exercise on Thursday. Earlier it was reported that the exercises were supposed to end today at 12:00 local time (07:00 Moscow time). The exercises are being held in response to a visit to Taipei by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Politico reported that the Chinese Defense Ministry is ignoring attempts by the US military to contact them amid escalating tensions over Taiwan. Citing at least three sources, the publication writes that the latest talks between the Chinese and US military took place on July 7 at the level of chiefs of general staff.
