Peskov: visa-free regime will facilitate the relocation of Ukrainians to Russia

The presidential decree on visa-free entry into Russia for Ukrainians will facilitate the resettlement of those people who want to connect their lives with our country. This was stated by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.
When asked by journalists what the presidential decree was related to, Peskov explained that such a regime “occurred before.”
“The fact is that many citizens of Ukraine come to our country, many want to completely connect their lives with our country. And, of course, such measures contribute to the resettlement here of precisely those people who want to move to us,” the Kremlin representative emphasized.
September 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which citizens of Ukraine can enter the territory of Russia without visas and using internal, foreign diplomatic, and service passports, including if these documents have expired.
Since 1997, an agreement on a visa-free regime has been in force between Russia and Ukraine. In 2022, against the backdrop of Ukraine introducing a visa regime with Russia in July, Moscow discussed the introduction of visas for Ukrainians. Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko noted that the abolition of the visa-free regime with Ukraine will complicate the entry of refugees. Later in October, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Ivanov said that Moscow does not intend to introduce visas.
