Peskov: US has not yet invited Russia to the APEC forum

The United States has not yet taken any official action in connection with inviting Russia to events within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum next year, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“We need to rely on official sources. So far, there have been no actions on this matter through official channels,” Peskov said.
Earlier, Washington’s representative to APEC Matt Murray said that the United States, being “good stewards” of the summit, will invite Moscow to participate in the forum meetings, Reuters reported.
In May, at the APEC Trade Ministers’ Meeting, representatives of Japan, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand left meeting during the speech of the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov in protest against the special military operation in Ukraine. Russian delegation on the same day enrolled similarly during the speech of US Representative Katherine Tai.
This year’s APEC summit at the level of country leaders and heads of delegations passed On November 18-19, in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, the Russian delegation was headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov. Next year the summit will be held in San Francisco.
Now APEC includes 21 countries and territories of the Asia-Pacific region, in total 2.8 billion people live in them. APEC, in addition to Russia, includes 20 members: Australia, Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Canada, China, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Singapore, USA, Thailand, Philippines, Chile, South Korea and Japan, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan.
