The Kremlin urges not to listen to political scientists who make “extremely embarrassing” statements on television about Kazakhstan, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“I can say one thing, that in Russia there are no less political scientists who make extremely awkward statements about Kazakhstan than there are political scientists in Kazakhstan who are very, very critical of Russia. But this does not mean that it can and should cast a shadow on our bilateral relations, ”Peskov noted (quote according to TASS).
The spokesman stressed that the statements of political scientists do not reflect the official line of the government or the Kremlin.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko earlier called on Russia to respond to negative statements about the republic. The statement is connected with a fragment of the talk show “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov”, which aired on the Rossiya TV channel.
One of the guests of this telecast was political scientist Dmitry Drobnitsky, who suggested that the interlocutors “pay attention that the next problem is Kazakhstan.” He believes that “Nazi trials can also begin in the republic,” as in Ukraine.
Earlier, presidential elections were held in Kazakhstan, the victory in which won the incumbent head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, gaining 81.31% of the vote. 6,456,392 people voted for Tokayev. All other candidates received within 2-3.4% of the vote. The turnout was just over 8.3 million people, which is 69.44% of the total number of voters. Tokayev’s inauguration is scheduled for November 26.
