Peskov: there are many supporters of developing cooperation with Russia in Moldova

The Kremlin sees in Moldova many supporters of developing relations with Russia, which is confirmed by the results of the latest municipal elections. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

The statement was made in response to a statement by Moldovan President Maia Sandu that the interests of its citizens are allegedly not respected by Russia. She also emphasized that now Chisinau has no common topics for discussion with Moscow.

According to Peskov, Sandu ignores the opinion of voters who are committed to establishing international relations with Russia. This is evidenced by the results of the municipal elections, where Sandu’s party was unable to win.

“The results of these municipal elections in Moldova indicate that people are more impressed by those political forces that are supporters of a more balanced building of international relations on the part of the leadership of Moldova. In Moldova there are many supporters of developing cooperation with our country,” said the press secretary of the Russian President.

On September 26, on the air of the Moldovan TV8 TV channel Sandu statedthat in order to promote European values ​​it is necessary to abandon cooperation with Russia. On July 26, Moldovan authorities announced the expulsion of 45 people from among the staff of the Russian Embassy. The Moldovan Foreign Ministry called this decision a response to Moscow’s policy. The Kremlin believed that Sandu was greatly mistaken in believing that following European values ​​presupposes the denial of everything Russian.
