Peskov: The Kremlin has not yet decided on the timing of Putin’s visit to China

The dates of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China have not yet been determined, but the issues that the leaders of the two countries will discuss are already clear – trade and economic cooperation and the situation in the world. This was stated by the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

He stressed that now is an absolutely opportune moment to maintain high dynamics in the development of relations between Russia and China, therefore, during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, further contacts in Beijing at the highest level were already discussed.

“Exact dates will be agreed. You will be informed. Dialogue continues at the highest levels. Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko these days in China. She has a very eventful visit. And of course, Putin’s visit is also on the agenda, with the timing of which we will still determine exactly,” Peskov said.

The leaders of China and Russia plan to discuss “quite large” topics. “Of course, first of all, this is bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Well, it is also important to exchange views on the situation in the world, in various regions, which are of particular importance for each of our countries,” Peskov said.

Moscow and Beijing have good prospects for constructive interaction, “which has never been directed against any third countries,” the presidential press secretary stressed.

On July 11, Andrey Denisov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, said that the Chinese leader expects the Russian President to come to China in October 2023 to participate in the third Belt and Road Forum.

The President of the People’s Republic of China paid an official visit to Russia on March 20-22. Putin called the talks constructive and successful. Following the talks, the leaders of Russia and China signed a number of statements. At the same time, Xi invited Putin to visit Beijing “at his convenience” in 2023.
