Peskov said that the “main work” in Soledar is still ahead

The military acted heroically in the battles at Soledar, but the main work is still ahead. This statement was made by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

“A truly gigantic work has been done in Soledar. These are absolutely selfless heroic actions. And not only in Soledar, but in many areas where offensive operations are being carried out. They will continue,” he said.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman noted that the “main work” is still ahead. This is not the time to stop, Peskov stressed. He clarified that all the announced goals of the special operation “remain on the agenda.” Peskov explained that we are talking about the liberation of the DPR and LPR within the borders of the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions as of 2014.

On the night of January 11, the founder of Wagner PMC Evgeny Prigozhin declaredthat the entire territory of Soledar is under the control of the fighters. He noted that other units did not participate in the storming of the city. In the evening of the same day, Prigogine again emphasizedthat Soledar is completely liberated from the Ukrainian army. Now there is a cleaning of the city, in particular, salt mines, he specified.

In the report of the Ministry of Defense of January 11 saidthat Russian troops blocked the city from the north and south. At the same time, the department reported that the Airborne Forces units are engaged in the liberation of Soledar, the Russian Aerospace Forces also strike at enemy strongholds, and assault squads are fighting in the city.

Earlier, the Kremlin urged to wait for official information about taking control of Soledar. At the same time, Peskov noted positive dynamics in the conduct of the special operation.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
