The current mayor of Moscow is Sergei Sobyanin. He took up this position in October 2010 by presidential decree. Since then, Sobyanin has been re-elected twice. In 2013 and 2018 he participated in the elections as a self-nominated candidate. In 2018 Sobyanin won in the elections with 70% of the vote.
Previously, Vedomosti, citing sources wrotethat the Moscow conference of United Russia on June 9 will nominate Sobyanin as a candidate for the election of the head of the capital.
