NATO is still imposing war on Ukraine, pumping it with weapons, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
“Is there any insight from the alliance? No. The alliance still imposes war on the Kyiv regime, the alliance still prefers to fight to the last Ukrainian,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
According to Peskov, NATO also continues to pump Ukraine with its weapons, thereby “prolonging hostilities and complicating the situation for that same Ukrainian regime.”
The day before, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg declaredthat the primary task of Ukraine now is to maintain independence, and not join the alliance. He also stressed that in order to preserve Ukraine’s independence, NATO must mobilize maximum military, financial and economic assistance.
On September 30, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, following a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of the country, announced that Ukraine file application for membership in NATO in an accelerated manner, the document has already been signed. According to the current procedure, the entry into the alliance of a new member must be supported by all the other members, which are now 30. In early October, Ukraine’s entry into NATO was supported by the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and several other countries.
At the Russian Foreign Ministry earlier stressedthat Ukraine’s entry into NATO in the current situation is an irrational step, and the expansion of the bloc does not lead to strengthening the security of the alliance.
