Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia is not going to cancel its plans to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus in connection with criticism from Western countries.
“Such a reaction cannot affect Russia’s plans,” he said, commenting on statements about possible sanctions by the EU.
“The President explained everything in his statements, which he made on Saturday. There is nothing to add to this,” the Kremlin speaker said in response to a request to comment on the motives behind the decision on tactical nuclear weapons.
According to the President, the reason for such a step was the announcement of the UK on the supply of ammunition to Ukraine with depleted uranium. At the same time, Putin noted that Belarus had long asked to host Russian nuclear weapons on its territory. He added that Moscow is doing what the United States has been doing for decades.
