Russia will continue to develop relations with Kyrgyzstan, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“We intend to further develop both our bilateral relations with Kyrgyzstan, which we greatly value, and also all formats of our joint integration,” Peskov said in response to the probable US plans to impose sanctions on Kyrgyzstan.
The Washington Post, citing American officials wrotethat the administration of US President Joe Biden is preparing new economic measures against Kyrgyzstan so that the country refuses to trade with Russia. Restrictions could start as early as this week.
The Kremlin spokesman noted that Kyrgyzstan is a “close partner and ally” of Russia. “This is the very integration that is of great benefit to Kyrgyzstan itself. And the Kyrgyz economy is certainly a beneficiary of the further development of this integration process,” Peskov added.
