Russia does not pose a threat to the European Union, and the opposite is true. This statement was made by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday, November 23.

“Russia does not pose a threat to Europe – Europe poses a threat to Russia,” Peskov said, commenting to VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin on the corresponding words of Czech President Petr Pavel.

The president’s press secretary also noted that Europe is a de facto contingent controlled by the United States, since the countries of the European Union are part of the NATO bloc.

“[Североатлантический альянс] is moving with all its military might towards our borders. This is what poses a threat to us and this is what forces us to do what we are doing now,” concluded Dmitry Peskov.

Earlier, Czech President Petr Pavel said that Russia “the main threat” to Europe. According to him, this is perceived not only by the Republic, but also by NATO. He noted that this suggests the need to realistically prepare for such a threat.

Commenting on Pavel’s statements, Peskov previously stated that “There are a lot of hysterical statements coming from Prague”which have been coming out for the last few years.
