Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the presidential administration has not received any requests from Kyiv asking for the transfer of the bodies of Ukrainian prisoners killed in the crash of an Il-76 military transport plane on January 24 in the Belgorod region.
“No to the administration,” Dmitry Peskov answered RIA Novosti when asked whether such an appeal had been received by the presidential administration. The day before, the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andrey Yusov statedthat Ukraine asked Russia to hand over the bodies of prisoners of war who died in the Il-76 crash. According to him, Ukrainian authorities insist on conducting an “impartial international investigation” into the crash.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the Il-76 carried 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war, six crew members and three escorts, all killed. Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation excited case of a terrorist attack (Article 205 of the Criminal Code). According to Russian investigators, the plane was hit by two missiles fired from the American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.
