Peskov rejected Macron’s statement about Russia’s dependence on China

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov commented on the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron that Russia has suffered a “geopolitical defeat” and is in “vassal dependence” on the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

“We categorically disagree with this, because our relations with China, with the PRC, are in the nature of a strategic, special partnership. And this is not related to some kind of addiction of someone. This is taking into account mutual interests, this is mutual benefit. This is the closeness of the worldview in relation to international affairs, this is a joint rejection of attempts to dictate, to impose some kind of someone else’s opinion on the development of our countries, and so on, ”Peskov said.

He added that the Kremlin considers such statements against the background of Paris’s initiatives on negotiations and assistance to Ukraine to be “absolutely the wrong approach” and “absolutely wrong understanding of the essence of what is happening.”

But she will have to abandon the confrontation with Russia and restore a stable balance.” Macron also talked about the relationship between Russia and China. In his opinion, Russia has become dependent on China.

On May 12, the head of the EU foreign policy service, Josep Borrell, said that relations between the EU countries and China would become more complicated if the PRC did not influence Russia on the issue of conducting a special operation.
