Peskov: Putin calmly reacted to the drone attack on the Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin always behaves calmly and collectedly in extreme situations, the same was his reaction to the drone attack on the Kremlin. This was told by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.

At a conference call, journalists asked Peskov how Putin reacted when he was told about the attack.

How did the president react? The President always in such difficult, extreme situations remains calm, composure, clarity in assessments, in the commands that he gives out. Therefore, nothing new has happened in this regard,” Peskov replied.

On the night of May 3 Kyiv undertook an attempt to attack the Kremlin with the help of two drones, the Kremlin press service reported. The actions of Kyiv in the Kremlin called “a planned terrorist act, an attempt on the life of the President of Russia.” The press service also stressed that Moscow reserves the right to take retaliatory measures “where and when it sees fit.”

Kyiv denies involvement in the attack. The UN previously also urged the parties to avoid steps leading to an escalation of the conflict. Commenting on the incident, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington leaves it up to Kyiv to protect its territory in the conflict. The White House stressed that they do not encourage Ukraine to strike at Russian territory.

Earlier today Peskov declaredthat Washington is behind the attack on the Kremlin. Peskov called the statements of Blinken and Ukrainian officials “attempts to disown” and considered them “ridiculous.” According to him, Russian intelligence services have information about Ukraine’s involvement in the attack, but “only a fraction” of this information is disclosed. It is important that Washington understands “how dangerous such direct involvement in the conflict is,” he added.

Peskov noted that Russia’s response steps in this situation can be “very different.” He declined to specify exactly what measures could be taken, adding that these would be “weighted and in line with the interests” of Russia decisions.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation emphasizedcommenting on the incident that the severity of this crime is aggravated by the fact that the Kremlin is the residence of the head of state, “and the special cynicism of the actions of the neo-Nazi Ukrainian authorities lies in the fact that an attempt was made on the life of the President of Russia on the eve of Victory Day and the May 9th Parade.”

Such actions should not go unanswered, the Foreign Ministry said. Diplomats are convinced that all those responsible will be found. “Severe and inevitable punishment awaits them,” the report said.
