Peskov: hardly anyone can compete with Putin in the elections

The current president of Russia has no real rivals in the elections. At the same time, Vladimir Putin insisted on compliance with all requirements of the Constitution. This is how the press secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov, commented on the proposal of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to cancel the presidential elections against the backdrop of a special operation.
“It’s unlikely that anyone can compete with Putin in the elections,” Peskov said.
October 7 Kadyrov offered cancel the presidential elections while a special operation is underway, or hold a vote with one candidate – the current head of state, “because we don’t have another person who could defend our country today.”
On September 11, Peskov said that the president would decide to participate in the elections after setting voting dates and nominating candidates. On the same day, he noted that if Putin puts forward his candidacy, no one will be able to truly compete with him.
Presidential elections are scheduled in Russia for 2024. The CEC has already begun preparations for the elections, CEC Chairman Ella Pamfilova said earlier. The date of the presidential elections will likely be announced by the Federation Council in December, said Andrei Klimov, head of the Federation Council commission for protecting state sovereignty and preventing interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation.
