Peskov: German statements about Kyiv’s attacks on Russian airports do not contribute to peace

Statements from Germany about Ukraine’s attacks on Russian territories do not contribute to resolving the conflict, said presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

“Such statements, in fact, prolong this entire difficult period and do not contribute to a solution to this problem,” the Kremlin spokesman said, answering the question whether the statements of the German representatives encourage the Ukrainian side to new attacks.

German Cabinet Speaker Steffen Hebestreit declaredthat Ukraine is “not obliged to limit” actions to its own territories, and that attempts to strike Russian airfields are “legal”. He added that the German side took note of reports of destruction at Russian air bases and is of the opinion that Ukraine has a legitimate right to self-defense, which comes from Article 51 of the UN Charter.
