Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, in a comment to correspondent Pavel Zarubin, explained why the Russian side calls the Ukrainian government a “regime.”
The journalist quoted to the Kremlin speaker the words of the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, who in an interview with the media stated that “there are no Russian national minorities in Ukraine and cannot be,” and those Russians who “do not demonstrate respect” for Ukraine should be violated their rights.
“This is the essence of the Kiev regime. That’s why we call it “regime”. We do this for a reason, because the normal leadership of the country cannot make such statements,” Peskov said.
He also stressed that such statements are unacceptable in a country where millions of Russians live. In this regard, as the Kremlin speaker noted, “only within the regime can there be such statements.”
