Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the situation with the country’s state budget deficit is under control. According to the Ministry of Finance, from January to April 2023, the budget deficit amounted to 3.4 trillion rubles.
“We have quite good macroeconomic indicators. The same Ministry of Finance and the president have repeatedly spoken about this at economic meetings that the head of state regularly holds. Therefore, in this case, the situation is absolutely controllable and there is a necessary margin of safety for various parameters,” Peskov explained during the conference call.
The Kremlin spokesman added that the situation with the spending of federal budget funds remains under constant control of Vladimir Putin and the Russian government.
On the eve of the Ministry of Finance of Russia published preliminary assessment of the execution of the federal budget for January-April 2023. The state budget for this period was executed with a deficit of 3.4 trillion rubles. Over the past month, this indicator has grown by 1 trillion rubles from 2.4 trillion rubles in the first quarter.
Budget revenue amounted to 7.7 trillion rubles, which is 22% lower than in the same period last year. Non-oil and gas revenues grew by 5%, amounting to 5.5 trillion rubles. Oil and gas, on the contrary, decreased by 52%, to 2.2 trillion rubles. According to the agency, this is due to the high base of last year, the decline in quotations for Urals oil and the reduction in gas exports.
