Kazakhstan is a sovereign country that develops cooperation in all possible directions and does not do it in the “either with these or with these” mode. This is a self-sufficient country, but our strategic ally,” Peskov said, commenting on Western formulations.
The Kremlin representative emphasized that Russia is developing its own relations with Kazakhstan in various fields and values them. “The prospects are broad. We will develop our relations, which are based on mutual respect, benefits and true alliance, where no one imposes or dictates anything to anyone,” Peskov said.
The collective West, in his opinion, has “its own accents”; these countries, as a rule, are not friends for their own sake, he believes. “They are trying to be friends, pushing Russia out of certain regions. We don’t think this policy has any prospects,” Putin’s press secretary concluded.
Vladimir Putin visited Kazakhstan on November 9 on an official visit, during which he held talks with the country’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. As a result of the visit, a joint statement was adopted by the two presidents on the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Good Neighborhood Treaty between the countries, and six other documents were signed. Among them are a joint action plan between the two countries for 2024–2026, a memorandum of the Ministry of Energy on the construction of the Kokshetau Thermal Power Plant, the Semey Thermal Power Plant and the Ust-Kamenogorsk Thermal Power Plant in Kazakhstan, an action plan between the Federal Customs Service and the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, etc. .
