Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov answered a question about a document allegedly intercepted by Ukraine on the destabilization of the situation in Moldova by Russia. According to him, the Kremlin knows nothing about this.
“We need to contact Mr. Zelensky. We don’t know what it’s all about,” the spokesman said.
On February 9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, during a speech at the European Council, said that intelligence intercepted the “Russian plan” to “destroy the democratic order” in Moldova and he handed over these documents to President Maia Sandu.
In June 2022, the leader of the ruling Action and Solidarity Party in Moldova, Igor Grosu, said that Moldova was ready to join the new EU sanctions against Russia. This happened after receiving the status of a candidate for entry into the European Union.
After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, the Prime Minister of the Republic, Natalia Gavrilitsa, announced in March 2022 that Moldova had no plans to join NATO. Then she explained that the principle of neutrality is enshrined in the Constitution of the country.
