Peskov commented on the situation on the border of Poland and Belarus

Poland, with its statements, continues to escalate the situation and create additional tension on the border of the republic and Belarus. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

“In general, the Poles are prone to provoking the situation, escalating tension. This is a line that is not new, it has only been progressing in recent years,” he said.

Peskov recalled that Belarus is a sovereign state and therefore any movement of the military on the territory of the republic, regardless of the distance to the border, must be assessed in this way. “Indeed, the fighters of this group are on the territory of Belarus within the framework of existing agreements. Actually, near the border, not near the border – this is the territory of Belarus. Belarus is a sovereign state,” Peskov said.

Commenting on the situation with the Belarusian helicopter pilots, who allegedly could cross the border of Polish airspace, Peskov noted that “the Poles themselves confirmed that this violation was not recorded on the radars.”

On the evening of August 1, the Ministry of National Defense of Poland announced that two Belarusian helicopters during exercises near the village of Belovezha violated airspace of the country. After the incident, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak convened a meeting of the National Security Committee and ordered an increase in the number of soldiers on the border and the allocation of additional forces, including combat helicopters. The Ministry of Defense of Belarus said that the accusations of violating the border of Poland by the Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters of the Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense Forces are far-fetched and were made by the Polish military-political leadership to justify the build-up of forces and means near the Belarusian border.

In early August, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko expelled a scenario in which Wagner PMC fighters plan to attack Poland. “Suddenly, I hear recently, Poland went berserk that supposedly some detachment was coming here, as many as 100 people. No detachments of PMC “Wagner” in 100 people moved here. And if they moved, only in order to transfer combat experience to the brigades that are concentrated in Brest and Grodno,” he said, commenting on the statement of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who informed on the movement of about a hundred fighters of the PMC “Wagner” to the Belarusian-Polish border in the area of ​​​​the Suwalki corridor and called this decision “a step towards a further hybrid attack on Polish territory.”

Agreements that PMC fighters and Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin would work in Belarus were reached on the evening of June 24 after Wagner PMC attempted an armed rebellion in Russia.
