It is important for Russia to maintain its own balanced position on the issue of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This was stated by Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron to create an international coalition to fight Hamas.
“We repeat once again: we condemn terrorism, terrorist acts, including the terrorist attack that was carried out against Israeli civilians,” the presidential press secretary emphasized.
Peskov also repeated the idea voiced in the same conversation that Russia knows what terrorism is and how to fight it.
“Terrorism in all its manifestations must be fought, but innocent people should not suffer, they should not be held responsible for terrorism. That’s why we maintain our balanced, balanced position,” the Kremlin representative concluded.
The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, when the Palestinian group Hamas began military operations against Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by launching Operation Iron Swords, striking hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli government announced that the country had entered a state of war. As a result of the fighting, according to the latest data, about 6,500 people were killed, including more than 5,000 from the Gaza Strip.
