The development of response measures to the price ceiling for Russian oil adopted by the EU countries continues, this process is close to completion. This statement was made by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“There is no task, as they say, to release to the mountain. There is still a task to work out such measures that will best suit our interests. This work is ongoing, but it is close to completion,” Peskov said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
He noted that there are already developments, “which are laid down on paper.” At the same time, Peskov added, additional proposals are currently being discussed.
On December 3, the EU countries agreed on a ceiling price for Russian oil at $60 per barrel. On December 5, the restriction came into force.
After the restriction was established, Peskov said that Moscow would not accept the introduction of a ceiling on Russian oil. According to him, preparations have already been made for this decision. Prior to this, the Kremlin has repeatedly stressed that Russia will not supply energy to countries that join the price ceiling.
On December 15, a Kremlin spokesman said that a presidential decree in response to a ceiling on Russian oil prices is expected this week. On December 16 he also informedthat Russia’s response to the ceiling on Russian oil prices is expected soon.
