Peskov called the shelling of the Odessa port “retaliation strikes” for the Crimean bridge

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the rocket attacks on the port infrastructure of Odessa on the night of July 18 are “retaliation strikes” for the attack on the Crimean bridge. To the question “RIA News“, whether the night attacks were “retaliatory strikes”, the spokesman answered in the affirmative.

The agency clarified that the “group strike” was inflicted by high-precision sea-based weapons on facilities where “terrorist acts against the Russian Federation were prepared using unmanned boats”, as well as at the place of their manufacture.

The blows were delivered on the night of July 18. On the night of July 17, as reported by the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, the Crimean bridge was attacked by two Ukrainian unmanned surface vehicles. As a result, one span of the bridge was destroyed, another received an axial displacement, a married couple died, their daughter was injured.

Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting in connection with the incident said: “Of course, there will be a response from Russia. The Ministry of Defense is preparing appropriate proposals.” Authorities of Odessa reportedthat last night “fragments of downed missiles and a blast wave” damaged port infrastructure facilities, an elderly man was injured.
