The final declaration of the G20 summit can be called a “victory of common sense,” said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov
“This is more like a victory for common sense. And of course, the great merit of both our diplomats and our Sherpas, and the great merit of the Indonesians, who have chaired and are still chairing the G20, and the Indian diplomats, who will continue to chair the G20 by relay race, and our partners – Chinese, other countries,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
According to him, the final declaration managed to neutralize the “blind aggressiveness of the collective West” and reach a compromise, otherwise for the first time the G20 summit could have been left without a final document.
“In general, we evaluate it very positively. It reflects a situation on which there are different points of view. And indeed, this format most fully at the moment, probably, represents the situation in the world and can most fully approach, at least approach, as they say, the projectile for solving the most important and pressing problems, ”concluded Peskov.
G20 formerly agreed joint statement following the summit in Bali. The G20 countries, which condemned the conflict in Ukraine, noted that the fighting “causes great human suffering” and also has a negative impact on the global economy.
At the same time, according to a joint statement, a number of countries expressed a different opinion on the “situation and sanctions.” The summit participants stressed that the G20 meeting in Bali is not a platform “to address security issues.”
The G20 summit in Bali was held from 15 to 16 November. This year the Russian delegation was represented at the event by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. November 15 he completed attending the summit and left Bali. Instead, the Russian side was represented at subsequent events by Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.
