Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov commented on the decision to extend the “grain deal” for 60 days.
“The second part, which concerns us, has not yet been completed,” he said, speaking about the limited time frame.
“We appreciate the efforts that were made through the UN, personally by the Secretary General,” the Kremlin spokesman said. “Despite this, Guterres, unfortunately, failed to break through the blank wall of the collective West,” Peskov said. The Russian side believes that the conditions that were agreed upon as an integral part of the deal were not met. “The deal cannot stand on one leg,” he stressed.
Peskov considers the conditions for the extension to be relative: “This is a kind of gesture of goodwill on the part of Russia.” He expressed the hope that after “such a long time” the commitments made by all parties would be fulfilled.
