Peskov called Poland a hostile state

Peskov also drew attention to the fact that Warsaw “actually openly” speaks of its intention to interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus, “including by force.” The Kremlin representative called the threat obvious and stressed that Belarus is a “partner, ally and brotherly state to us.” In this regard, Russia will fulfill its allied obligations to ensure the security of Belarus.

The day before, on May 23, the former Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland, General Waldemar Skrzypczak, on the air of the Polsat TV channel declaredthat Poland is “preparing for an uprising in Belarus.” According to him, it is allegedly about an armed coup.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly stated before that the West is preparing to invade the territory of the republic. “The formation of certain regiments, banners, legions for the subsequent coup in Belarus is in full swing. The time will come – we will lay it all out for you, – said he is in the course of a message to the Belarusian people and parliament.

Lukashenka added that Poland plans to almost double the size of the army – up to 300,000 troops. The country is also actively rearming, he noted. According to the Belarusian leader, Warsaw signed contracts for the supply of 366 Abrams tanks and 1,000 South Korean Black Panthers. The President of the Republic stressed that the authorities would respond to attack attempts “symmetrically, adequately.”

In October 2022, Lukashenka announced increased external threats to the country. In this regard, on October 10, Lukashenka agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the deployment of a joint regional force grouping. The Belarusian leader instructed to place a small part of the Russian military on the territory of the republic.
