Peskov called justified the discussion of the issue of compensation for undermining the “Nord Streams”

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the data on the explosion of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines indicate the involvement of any states and special services in what happened. According to him, if this is proved, the discussion of compensation for blowing up the gas pipeline will be justified.

“If we are talking about, let’s say, sabotage by one or more states, for now, the data indicate that such a large-scale act of sabotage and a terrorist attack against critical infrastructure could not have been committed without the participation of states and special public services with all their potential – then, of course, this will be a completely justified question, ”said Dmitry Peskov in response to a question from Kommersant FM. He stressed that it is first necessary to identify those responsible for the explosions.

On the eve of the head of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Birichevsky declaredthat Russia may demand compensation for blowing up Nord Stream. Mr. Birichevsky did not specify to whom this demand could be presented.

The September 2022 gas pipeline explosions are being investigated by the German, Swedish and Danish authorities. Moscow said that Western countries refused to provide data on the investigation. According to some foreign media, a pro-Ukrainian group, which is probably not connected with the Ukrainian authorities, may be involved in the explosions. Kyiv denies the guilt of its citizens. The Kremlin does not believe in the involvement of private individuals in sabotage.
