Perfume sales in Russia grew by almost 28% in 2022

Perfume sales in Russia for 2022 grew by 27.7% to 85.57 million units against 67 million a year earlier. About it reported RIA Novosti with reference to the materials of the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT), the operator of the Chestny Znak marking system, prepared jointly with the National Scientific Competence Center in the field of combating illicit trafficking in industrial products under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

At the same time, sales in the fourth quarter of 2022 decreased by 12.5% ​​compared to the same period in 2021, 31.8 million perfume products were sold. According to the CRPT, most often perfumes were bought in retail outlets – 74%, the share of sales in online stores reached 10%. According to the results of the 3rd and 4th quarters of the year, most perfumes were sold in Moscow and the Moscow Region, and the least in the North Caucasus Federal District.

Despite the growth in sales, the volume of products put into circulation fell by almost 31% to 116.7 million units. It is specified that the main source of supply formation was the own production of perfumery in Russia (58%).

The import of imported perfumes into the country in the II quarter decreased by almost two times compared to the beginning of the year, in the second half of the year the volume of deliveries began to grow. In total, according to the results of 2022, about 47.7 million units of products were imported to Russia, of which most (91%) were imported from countries outside the EAEU.

In mid-January, the press service of the government reported about the growth in the production of perfumes and cosmetics in Russia by about 10% by the end of 2022. At the same time, the share of domestic manufacturers in the domestic market also increased – by 7-8% in monetary terms.
